BOZCAADA – GÖKÇEADA – BERGAMA
We're exploring the largest and most special islands of our beautiful country...
On this trip, we're straying from the beaten track, visiting the largest and most special islands in Turkey's Aegean Sea—each a paradise, each one more heavenly than the other, vibrant with the Aegean breeze, its vineyards brimming with fruit, and home to numerous civilizations. A delightful holiday package awaits you on these islands, which will captivate you with both their historical and cultural heritage and their lived experiences. We'll combine this holiday with the Bergama region, one of the oldest settlements in the history of civilization with its 8,500-year history and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, and we'll create wonderful memories together.
DAY 1: MARMARIS DEPARTURE - AYVALIK CENTER - TAKSİYARHİS MEMORIAL MUSEUM - SAATLİ MOSQUE - CUNDA ISLAND - ÇANAKKALE
At 6:00 a.m., we'll meet at Eşref Girginç Park (across from LC Waikiki) and depart for Ayvalık, where we'll explore the first of our delightful holiday. We'll arrive in Ayvalık city center and have a free lunch break. After our break, we'll explore the narrow streets and visit the Taksiyarhis Memorial Museum, also located in the center. While this church appears modest on the outside, its interior is quite magnificent and elegant in a neoclassical style. After touring the museum with our guide, we'll also visit the nearby Saatli Mosque and depart for Alibey (Cunda) Island. Shortly thereafter, we reach the island, named after Lieutenant Colonel Ali Çetinkaya, who first launched an armed attack during the War of Independence, defying the sultan's order to surrender to the Greeks. In 1964, Cunda was connected to the tiny island of Lale Island by a bridge, and from there to the town center, marking Turkey's first Bosphorus Bridge. With its charming cobblestone streets, stone houses, and stone architecture, we visit the Sevim and Necdet Kent Library, the most important landmarks on this island, and Fahrisin Hill, one of the island's most romantic spots. One of our most special visits on the island will be the magnificent Taksiyarhis Church. After restoration, the museum opened to the public as the Ayvalık Rahmi Koç Museum, where you can explore its unique and special collections. After completing all our island visits, we head to our Çanakkale hotel, where we will be staying. We have dinner at the hotel and rest. (ÇANAKKALE ACCOMMODATION) KULE HOTEL ÇANAKKALE
DAY 2: GÖKÇEADA - ZEYTİNLİ VILLAGE - KALE VILLAGE - HILL VILLAGE - GÖKÇEADA CENTER - SHOPPING FREE TIME - FERRY - HOTEL
After breakfast at our hotel, we depart for the Gestaş Çanakkale Ferry Terminal. From there, we board the ferry to Gökçeada, Turkey's largest island, and journey to the island. Minibuses await us on the island and begin our tour of Gökçeada. Our first stop on the island is Zeytinliköy, famous for its dibek coffee and mastic pudding. Like many villages on the island, Zeytinliköy has a large Greek population and is a protected urban site. Every village has a church open for worship, and at least one cafe is open in the village squares. Afterwards, we visit Kaleköy and explore the castle ruins with our guide. In this area, we take photos at some of the island's most beautiful spots. After visiting Tepeköy, we head to Gökçeada city center. There's free time for lunch. As you wander the backstreets of these villages, which are particularly appealing to photography enthusiasts, you'll discover many charming details. In Gökçeada city center, you can shop for olive oil and cosmetics, as well as the island's signature Efi almond cookies and Dibek coffee. After completing our Gökçeada visits, we depart for our ferry. We take the ferry from Gökçeada to Kabatepe and return to Çanakkale. This concludes another enjoyable day, after dinner at our hotel and a rest. (ÇANAKKALE ACCOMMODATION) KULE HOTEL ÇANAKKALE
DAY 3: GEYİKLİ - FULL-DAY BOZCAADA TOUR - HOTEL DINNER - ÇANAKKALE PROVINCE
After breakfast, we depart for Geyikli to enjoy Bozcaada, Turkey's third-largest island. Following our ferry ride, we arrive in Bozcaada. First, we explore the island's streets and the Greek neighborhood. The backstreets, in particular, offer stunning shots for photographers. The Church of the Virgin Mary (may be closed due to restoration) in the Greek neighborhood is the only remaining active place of worship. Bozcaada is also home to some of the most renowned local wineries. Guests can also enjoy a wine tasting at one of the distilleries in the town center. After spending time with our guide in the town center, we'll have free time for lunch and some free time to explore and shop according to your interests. During this time, our museum-loving guests can also visit the Bozcaada Museum. You can sample and purchase local delicacies like fig jam, calamari and seafood, and mastic cookies, some of the island's most famous. After some free time, we take a panoramic view of Bozcaada Castle, one of Turkey's best-preserved castles, and take a group photo at the viewpoint. This visit concludes our island tour and we return to the pier to catch our ferry. After returning to Çanakkale, we head to our hotel for dinner. After dinner, we head to the Çanakkale waterfront with any guests who wish to join us. This area, always lively, boasts a charming attraction with its elegant cafes and the Trojan Horse. After a pleasant time along the waterfront, we return to our hotel for a rest. (ÇANAKKALE ACCOMMODATION) KULE HOTEL ÇANAKKALE
DAY 4: PERGAMA JOURNEY - PERGAMON ANCIENT CITY - CABLE CAR - ACROPOLIS - ASKLEPION - RETURN JOURNEY TO MARMARIS
After breakfast at our hotel, we complete check-out and depart for Bergama. The Ancient City of Bergama (Kingdom of Pergamon), one of the oldest settlements in history with its 8,500-year history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the first place we will visit on our itinerary. This ancient region, with its exceptionally beautiful nature and healing natural resources, was one of the most strategic cities of the Middle Ages, situated in the westernmost part of the East and the easternmost part of the West. In Bergama, we first ascend the Acropolis by cable car. After admiring the view of Pergamum from the Acropolis, home to military, official, and religious buildings, as well as the Temple of Athena, the library, the Trianium, water cisterns, ammunition depots, and the world's steepest-angled theater, we return to our vehicle by cable car and then visit Asclepion, one of the greatest cultural heritage sites of antiquity. With its medical, surgical, and paramedical treatments intertwined through indoctrination and belief, Asclepion earned its reputation as one of the most important health centers of its time, a reputation that has endured to this day. After these important visits, which will add invaluable insights into our historical and cultural heritage, we return to our waiting vehicle. After completing the final visits of our memorable holiday, we begin our return journey to Marmaris. After stopping for essentials and food along the way, we arrive in Marmaris at night and bid you farewell, hoping to see you again on other adventures.
