IN A FAIRY TALE FIELD, AMONG MAGICAL SCENTS, AT THE LAVENDER HARVEST…
In 1975, Zeki Konur, a rose merchant at the time, and his collaborator Nihat Yılmaz returned from a visit to France, bringing approximately 15 lavender seedlings each to 30 households. Initially merely ornamental in home gardens or on the edges of rose fields, over the years, the lavenders grew effortlessly, taking over the fields and now spreading over approximately 3,000 acres in the villages of Kuyucak, Kuşçular, Yeşilyurt, Kılıç, and surrounding villages in Isparta.
The lavender produced in Kuyucak currently accounts for more than half of Turkey's total production. This village transforms into a magnificent visual feast during the harvest season, its vibrant colors evoking beautiful dreams. Add color to your life with our Lavender Harvest tour, which is much more than just a plant.
TOUR PROGRAM
DAY 1: LAKE SALDA - LAKE EĞİRDİR - YEŞİLADA - CAN ISLAND - AKPINAR VILLAGE
Gather and depart at Eşref Girginç Park at 7:00 a.m. After a free breakfast break, we take our first stop along the way at the famous Serinhisar Chickpea Shop. You'll be surprised to learn that chickpeas, the sole source of income for the district of 15,000, are exported to Çorum, famous for their chickpeas, among other countries. Next, we'll visit Lake Salda, a crater lake. The striking beauty of this lake and its surroundings, whose waters range from cyan to indigo in the deepest reaches, has led to it being called the Maldives of Turkey. After completing our visit to Lake Salda, we arrive in Burdur and take a free lunch break. During your free lunch break, you can try Burdur's famous shish kebab. One of the places we'll visit during our Burdur break will be the Burdur Archaeology Museum. The Burdur Archaeology Museum houses some of the most important artifacts from 9,000 years of human history, dating back to 7,000 BC, and its presentations are exceptionally well-executed. After this visit, we head towards Lake Eğirdir. We'll take a panoramic tour of the area, taking in the views of Dündar Bey Madrasa, Eğirdir Castle, Can Island, and Yeşil Island. Then, our final visit of the day is to Akpınar Village, the eagle's nest. Here, we'll take a tea and coffee break overlooking the magnificent view, take some of the most beautiful photos of the trip, and then head to the 5-star Barida Hotel in central Isparta to check in. After dinner, guests can enjoy free use of the Turkish bath, sauna, and indoor pool until 11:00 PM.
DAY 2: KUYUCAK VILLAGE LAVENDER GARDENS – MARMARIS
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Kuyucak Village in the Keçiborlu district of Isparta, famous for its lavender production. The tour will begin by visiting the gardens and taking plenty of photos to enjoy this magnificent visual feast. Participants are also welcome to take home the bouquets they create by cutting lavender. Here, we will have the opportunity to purchase the villagers' own lavender products (oil, water, soap, tea, etc.), lavender honey, and other village products from the shelves provided. We will depart for our free lunch at the time specified by our guide. After lunch, we conclude our tour with a tour of the traditional Kuyucak houses, built of adobe, stone, and wood, and depart for Marmaris. In the evening, we will drop you off at your pick-up points and depart for another KORAL TRAVEL trip.
